Specialist Teacher in Special Educational Needs
BA (QTS) Hons, EYPS, NNEB. PTUK
I have an extensive background in Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND), specialising in Autism and I am a qualified Play Therapist.
I have worked within education for over twenty-five years, and as a Teacher for over twenty years. I qualified as a Nursery Nurse in 1990 and spent several years working in nurseries and schools. I then went on to train as a Teacher at Christchurch University in Canterbury, qualifying in 1999. Once I qualified, I went on to work in several schools as a primary school Teacher, before moving to a new initiate called Sure Start. I was one of the first teachers in the country to work in a Surestart programme, which then became a Children’s Centre. After 13 years working in the Children’s Centre I left to become a Specialist Teacher in special educational needs for the Local Authority.
In September 2018, I left the Specialist Teaching Service to set up my own business, delivering training and consultancy advice both face to face and online, to Nurseries, Schools, Organisations and Parents on all areas of SEND. Since 2018, I have delivered training to lots of Kent Nurseries, Primary schools, SEND schools, Children’s homes, Health Visitors, Educational Organisations. I trained as a play therapist in 2018, and currently deliver play therapy services in 2 Primary schools in Kent. I have also delivered training and consultancy advice on behalf of The Educational People.

Here what some of our clients say about us
Fabulous trainer! Emma is warm and smiley and you immediately feel welcomed and at ease.
Lots of very interesting information. Some of it was familiar to me, some I knew but hadn’t realised I’d forgotten and other areas such as the vagus nerve and parts of the brain that I was completely unfamiliar with.
It’s very refreshing and different to go on a training course with a professional who really understands Autism because they have Autistic children and work with Autistic children. You know what you are being told and the strategies you are learning about have been ‘road tested’ and they haven’t just come out of a book written by a ‘specialist’.
I’ve met a lot of ‘specialists’ 🙄
If you want to meet a real one, book a place with Emma.
